I’m going to be re-writing the ‘Tomb Raider: Anniversary’ instruction manual in a more user friendly way. This can be also useful for any one who has bought the game second hand and does not have the instruction manual.

This is the PS2 version and here is my manual:

This is for advanced controls in the game

Introduction

Well as you know I have already done the basics for the tomb raider game so now it’s time to do all the advanced controls. I decided to do it in a new post because quite frankly there is a lot to cover and the previous post is already massive.

Main

Okay so now I’m going to say all of the main advanced controls in the game. In my opinion this includes climbing, grabbing, shimmying and jumping.

Well lucky for you you can get lara to jump and climb pretty much anyway in any area, however there are a lot of difficult situations where you need to have precision in making the perfect jump or grab. In most situations you will need to jump and then grab onto a ledge. To do this press to jump and then hold R2 to grab the ledge/rope etc. You will sometimes find that lara only grabs it with one one hand, in this case you need to quickly press to regain control.

If you feel you need to drop off the ledge for whatever reason press to do so. To shimmy (move) along the edge move the left analog stick in the direction you want to move. To move in that direction faster keep repeatedly pressing . If you need to pull up on a ledge then press and move the left analog stick up. There will also be some cases where you need to jump up the ledge, or jump behind the ledge or even jump to another ledge. To do this press and move the left analog stick in the direction you need to jump.

Grappling/Wall Running

In this section I am going to tell you how you can use your grappling hook in different ways including enabling you to wall run.

The grapple hook is a default object so you will always have it. There are certain times when you need to use the grappling hook. If for example a pit is to far to jump etc. You can only use you grapple on certain objects though. Shiny ones! So the most common type you will find is a shiny ring above you. Now you need to have really good timing to do this. Run towards the ring and just before you reach the edge jump by pressing then quickly press to get out your grapple. Hopefully it will attach itself to the ring and you can swing across. You can change the height you are on the grapple by holding down and moving the left analog stick in the direction you want to go in. You can also change the direction you are moving in by again using the left analog stick.

You will also be able to pull out objects which have a shiny object on. To do this press to attach the grapple and then press to pull the object out. To wall run basically attach the grapple as I said in the last paragraph and go towards a wall and literally run across it!

Pole

Poles play a big part in the available exploration in tomb raider. You can swing on poles to get past pits etc. To swing on a pole simply run towards it and jump using . Then you can use the left analog stick to do many things. First you can control where lara is on the pole, wait for her to stop swinging and then move the analog stick left to move left and right to move right. You can also change the direction of the swing by moving the left analog stick up to go forward and down to go backwards. When you want to jump from the pole to whatever is next press , to release from the pole press .

Columns

Columns are another aspect in the game. Just like poles except vertical and a lot bigger. You can climb up columns or you can even jump on top of them. Just like poles to jump on a column press , now if you aren’t at the top of the pole then you can climb it by moving the left analog stick up or down if you are at the top then you can press to jump off it. If you stay at the top for too long you will lose balance so you will need to press to re-stabilize yourself. To release from a column just like from a pole press .

Ropes

Just like the grapple hook the controls are exactly the same. So go up to where I have written the controls for the grapple and see there!

Ladders

There are many ladders around the game which you must use to reach your destination. Use the left analog stick to move up and the ladder, use to jump onto/off of the ladder. You can also speed up be repeatedly pressing , and as usual to release from the ladder press .

Moves

There are 3 moves I’m going to be talking about in this section: Swan Diving, Knockdown Recovery and tumbling.

The first move, the swan dive, is completely for show so apart from looking good it has no value in the game. To do a swan dove jump of a area with and then quickly (I mean really quickly) press .

Next is knockdown recovery. This move can be done when an enemy has hit into lara and she falls to the ground. Hopefully you will not need to use this move because you won’t let an enemy get near you. But anyway, when the enemy has just hit you press to flip instead of hitting the floor.

Tumbling is also a show move. You can do a variety of somersaults and acrobatics by pressing a mixture of the and buttons. So to somersault you press and to flip you press .

Adrenaline Dodges

Some enemies can become enraged when you shoot them (naturally) so they will charge you. You can see when this happens because you should see a burst of light around the enemy and then it will charge at you. Get ready! As it nears you the screen will blur and go into slow-motion just before it will attack you quickly press and move the left analog stick either left, right, up or down. Then you should see a target reticle appear on the enemies face. When it turns red press L1 to shoot and if done correctly you will kill the enemy in one shot!

Breaking Free

Some enemies have the tendency to bite lara and keep a hold of her. You must break free from the grip or you could die. To break free move the left and right analog stick up and done in quick succession to break the hold.

I hope that this instruction manual has helped you and if there is anything I’ve missed all something you don’t understand simply add a comment or go into the about me section and email me.

This is the PS2 version and here is my manual:

Introduction

Well this is the most recent tomb raider game available at this moment in time. Until December 2008 that is. Anyway the game as usual is an adventure and you can do things like dive of platforms etc. There are quite a lot of controls for the game so I will try my hardest to get everything in. Be warned though this might be quite a long post, which is why I’ve gave everything headers.

Main Menu

Ok the most important controls are the ones you use at the main menu. Otherwise you can’t play the game. So to move up or down you can use the direction buttons or the analog stock and move it up or down. To select the option press and to cancel press .

On the main menu there are 5 options. The first is ‘Start/ Play Game’ this option is pretty self explanatory. The next option is ‘Play Croft Manor’ if you click here then you go straight to the mansion, which is a game in itself. Next is ‘options’ where you can change various settings for the game. The next is ‘Rewards’. Here you can see all the bonus content you have unlocked. If you have just started then nothing will be there! The last is ‘Change Profile’ where you can change your profile!

Game Menu

The controls are the same here than for the main menu, however instead of 5 options there are only 3. The first one is ‘Resume Game’, the second is ‘Load Game’ and the last is ‘Replay level’. All of these don’t need explaining. The only thing that does is how to get onto the menu. To get onto it press as your playing the game.

HUD (Heads Up Display)

Okay well lets start in the top left hand corner. The light blue bar is the health meter. The one below that is the breath meter (it will only be there when you are in water). Below that shows how many large and small medipacks you have. This can be very useful because you can see how many you have when you need to use one.

Moving on to the top right hand corner. There are two bars here but usually they aren’t visible, that is until you start fighting. The top yellow bar is the enemy health meter which shows the health of the enemy. The red/orange one below that is the enemy rage meter. This shows the rage level of the enemy. When it is full they will probably charge you.

Onto the bottom right hand corner now, and again there is usually nothing there. Well when lara goes near like a switch you will get a ‘triangle’ sign. This is the hint icon. It tells you what to push. Then when you are playing a time trail there will be a little timer in the bottom right hand corner telling you how much time you have remaining to complete the level.

Now the bottom left hand corner. These will only appear if you have a weapon drawn. The first one is the selected weapon(s). So it will show a picture of the weapon you have selected. The one below that is the ammo count. So it will show you how many rounds there are in the clip and how many there are in the weapon.

Basic Movement

Easy, just move the left analog stick to move lara, whether it is sneaking, walking or running. To crouch hold down the button. You can also press this button while running to roll. To jump press , the longer you hold it for the further you will jump. To interact with objects press the button. You can also use the button to pick up a item/weapon or to balance. If you want to walk hold down the R2 button. This button is also used for grabbing ledges.

Camera

To rotate the camera move the right analog stick, to reset the camera press the L2 button. This button is also used to view the HUD.

Swimming

Use the left analog stick to swim forwards, left, right etc. To dive press the button, the longer you hold it the deeper you dive. To swim to the surface press the button, just like diving the longer you hold it the faster you surface. You can also swim faster by pressing the button repeatedly.

Other

Click the R3 button (push down on the right analog stick) to go into manual aim mode. You can press the button to throw or retract your grapple. Then press to pull the grapple. To use a small medipack press the down directional button. To use the large medipack press the up directional button. To cycle through your weapons press the left and right directional buttons.

Combat

This when you have a weapon out!

Press L1 to lock onto a target and then press R1 to fire the weapon. If there are multiple targets to lock on to move the right analog stick to switch between them.

These controls are when you are locked onto the enemy

Move the left analog stick in any direction. If you press then you will do a roll. If you press then you will do a somersault. If the enemy is performing a rage attack press and move the left analog stick to do a adrenaline dodge.

I hope that this instruction manual has helped you and if there is anything I’ve missed all something you don’t understand simply add a comment or go into the about me section and email me.

I’m going to be re-writing the ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ instruction manual in a more user friendly way. This can be also useful for any one who has bought the game second hand and does not have the instruction manual.

This is the Wii version and here is my manual:

Introduction

Ok, this game has a variety of events from the olympic games, most of which are four players, in fact all of them can be four players. However some events use a wii remote and nunchuk while others use just a wii remote, and on some you need to have one wii remote per person and on some you can have four players sharing just one wii remote. I’m going to explain the controls for each of the events and for the main menu in the game etc.

Main Menu

Ok well the most important thing in the game is knowing the controls for the main menu, otherwise if you didn’t then you wouldn’t be able to play the game. Well there is actually three different controls you can use for the main menu.

To select the a item in the menu such as ‘Missions’ you can either point at it with the wii remote, or use the control pad on the wii remote to select it or you can even use the nunchuk control stick to select it. To enter just press A and to cancel or go back press B.

Pause Menu

In the game you are very likely to pause the game while playing a event. Well you will come up with 3 options: Resume Game; Start Over; Main Menu. All of these are pretty much self explanatory so I won’t explain them. But the controls are exactly the same as for the main menu. The only new control is that to get the pause menu up you need to press the + button.

Common Control

As I was saying there are a total of 20 events in the games, however most use the same controls as each other. Which I will show you now:

Run: Probably the most common control this will be needed for events such as 100 metres and the hurdles etc. For this event you can use the wii remote with a nunchuk or just a wii remote. When your using just the wii remote al you need to is shake it up and down to run. With the nunchuk as well you will have to shake the remote and nunchuk alternately. Obviously the quicker you shake it the faster you will run.

Jump: This control will be needed in events such as the high jump and the pole vault. You can again use the wii remote alone or with the nunchuk. However the controls for both are the same. All you have to is swing the wii remote up. Sometimes you must do it at a certain time and a certain amount of power must be applied.

Swim: This control is also quite common and as you’ve guessed is used for the swimming games. You can again use the wii remote alone or with the nunchuk. If you are just using the wii remote then swing the remote left/right/up/down depending on what type of swimming you are doing. It is the same with the nunchuk except you swing them both in the same direction.

Move: You will need to use this control in games such as fencing etc. If you are using just the wii remote then you move with the control pad. If you are using the nunchuk as well then you use the control stick.

There are some events which you must use the nunchuk for, these are: Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Vault (Gymnastics) and Archery.

Characters

There are 16 characters in the game and they are separated into four different categories:

Power: These characters are solely power based, so they would be very good in events such as the hammer throw etc. They include: Wario, Bowser, Vector and Knuckles.

Speed: These characters, by the name, are fast. So they are good in events such as 100 metres and the hurdles. They include: Yoshi, Daisy, Shadow and Sonic.

Skill: These characters are very skilful and so they do well in events such as trampolining and table tennis. They include: Waluigi, Peach, Tails and Dr. Eggman.

All-Around: The last category is in my opinion the best. These characters are average on all the four categories: Speed, Stamina, Power and Skill. They include: Amy, Blaze, Luigi and Mario.

Main Menu

Hold on hasn’t there already been a main menu section? Yes but I haven’t gone through the sections on it. There are six options:

Single Match: For this section you choose the event you want to compete for and aim to win. For one to four players.

Circuit: This is where you can unlock locked events. Play in a series of events to compete for the overall prize. This for one to four players but if you want to unlock events you must play single player.

Mission: Complete mission given to earn prizes. For one player only.

Gallery: Play mini-games to unlock Olympic-related trivia such as music and facts.

Records: Here you can view all your records, emblems, trophies etc. You can also register online for World rankings.

Options: Here you edit your user profile.

Events

There are 20 events and unfortunately I’m not going to explain them. However I will tell you how you can find out how to play them. When starting the event simply click on instructions to see how to play the game. Easy!

I hope that this instruction manual has helped you and if there is anything I’ve missed all something you don’t understand simply add a comment or go into the contact section and email me.

This is the Boxing version and here is my manual:

Introduction

Boxing is the last of the five games on wii sports and it is up to two players. Each player must have their own wii remote and also their own nunchuk.

Remember to swing gently and to put the strap around your wrist and to connect the nunchuk to the wii remote.

Punching

The most obvious thing you need to do in boxing, punching. It is quite easy actually, assume the normal stance with the nunchuk and remote in front of you. Then to punch just make alternate punching movement with the nunchuk and wii remote. If you want to hit the body then swing the remote down diagonally, to hit the face then swing in front of you.

Introduction

Golf is up to four players just like Bowling and you can have four people with one wii remote.

Remember swing the remote gently, you don’t need to swing it as hard as you would a tennis racket. Also remember to have the wrist strap on at all times.
Before you actually take the shot it is always handy to practise. To swing just hold the wii remote in both hands and put your hands behind your head on the right side (right-handed) and then bring the wii remote down and up to in front of you in a sweeping motion which looks like a arch.

Swing

Try to get the right amount of power by the gauge on the left of the screen. The map in the lower right hand corner tells you how much power you need to get to the hole. Make sure you adjust your shot for wind speed etc.

Putting

To putt the ball (you will need to do this when you are on the green near the hole) just hold the wii remote in both hands to your right facing right with your whole body (right-handed) and then bring the wii remote up towards the television screen. Make sure you press the A button to take the proper shot. You can also press the 1 button to get the camera to tell you if there are any hills etc on the green, and by pressing the 2 button you can get the camera down on the ground to give you a good view of the terrain.

I’m going to be re-writing the ‘Wii Sports’ instruction manual in a more user friendly way. This can be also useful for any one who has bought the game second hand and does not have the instruction manual.

This is the Baseball version and here is my manual:

Introduction

Well unlike tennis you can only have up to two players on this game so you only need two wii remotes. However you still have to have one wii remote per person.

Remember swing the remote gently, you don’t need to swing it as hard as you would a tennis racket. Also remember to have the wrist strap on at all times. You don’t want the television broken do you!

Batting

So there are two parts to the game: Batting and Bowling. First batting. I think that I do not need to go into to much detail for this one unless of course you don’t know what a bat is or if you don’t know how to hit a ball with a bat. Basically hold the wii remote with both hands by your right hip (if your right-handed) and then swing round anti-clockwise pretending there is a ball coming towards you.

Pitching

To throw the ball to the batter literally hold the remote above you and then throw it! Do not let go! You can also though do certain types of throwing. If you hold down nothing then you will throw a fastball. Obviously by the name is goes straight and fast and is reasonably easy to hit. If you hold down the A button you will throw a Screwball. This ball is harder to hit and curves around to the right. If you hold down B then you will throw a Curveball. Just like the Screwball it is reasonably hard to hit and this time it curves around to the left. The last ball you can throw is a Splitter by holding down A and B. This ball is mega hard to hit and looks like a normal fastball. Until it drops down suddenly.

Speed

Speed is important when pitching so the faster you throw the ball the more harder it will be to hit.

I’m going to be re-writing the ‘Wii Sports’ instruction manual in a more user friendly way. This can be also useful for any one who has bought the game second hand and does not have the instruction manual.

This is the Tennis version and here is my manual:

Introduction

Okay you can play the tennis game up to four players and each person has the same control. You must have one wii remote per person, so if you have four wii remotes then you can have four people playing.

Remember swing the remote gently, you don’t need to swing it as hard as you would a tennis racket. Also remember to have the wrist strap on at all times. You don’t want the television broken do you!

Serve

To serve the ball (which you have to do at the beginning) all you need to do is raise the wii remote (flick it up) and then just as the ball is coming down hit the remote. It doesn’t matter which direction whether it’s down, left or right just hit it. To serve the ball extra fast (which is a really good skill to use against hard computer players) you have to whack the ball just as it reaches the height of the throw. Most people say this is about ½ a second from when you threw the ball up.

Strokes

It is very important in the game to master the use of the two most common strokes. Forehand and Backhand. To do a forehand stroke just swing the remote from right to left. Normally when you hit the ball with a forehand it will go left however if you put a spin on the ball or hit it right at the last minute you can also make it go right.

To do a backhand all you have to do is swing the remote from left to right. Again like the forehand stroke the ball will usually go the way you hit it, in this case it will go right. However if you put a spin or hit it at the last minute again then you make it go left.

See below to see the standard picture you get in the instruction manual about the forehand stroke and the backhand stroke.

Spin/Hook/Slice

When you spin the ball you can make it go in the opposite direction and fool your opponent. To master spinning the ball you need to be able to twist your wrist, which hopefully you can do unless you’ve broken your hand or something! When hitting the ball spin your wrist clockwise or anti-clockwise to make the ball change direction. So for example if your hitting the ball to the left and you spin your wrist anti-clockwise then you will make the ball spin and curve to the right which can really wreck havoc on your opponent(s)!

Lob/Smash

To lob the ball and to slice can also affect your opponent quite bad and for me it has often made sure I have won the match. A lob is when the ball goes high and to the back of the court, this move is best used when your opponents are near the front the court by the net. To do a lob just hit the ball softly raising the wii remote up sharply as you hit it. A smash is literally what the name is. You smash the ball towards the ground quickly, this often works without fail and can rarely leave your opponent the chance to get the ball in time. To smash the ball you need to be by the net (prefably the person who is next to the net all the time) and when the ball comes to you quickly move the wii remote sharply at 45º down (either left or right). If you are not sure what 45º is then it is the angle of these two lines: / \ so basically south east or south west.

Angle/Speed

As I said earlier you can make the ball go in any direction you want as long as you hit it at a certain angle. The angle you hit the ball in also effects the speed of the ball. So if you hit the ball early to the left then the ball will go left very quickly. If you hit the ball straight then it will go straight, and if you hit the ball late to the right then it will go left really slowly. Here is a diagram below about the speed and the direction.

I hope that this instruction manual has helped you and if there is anything I’ve missed all something you don’t understand simply add a comment or go into the contact section and email me.

Now I can imagine the amount of you buying Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 and finding the instruction manual useless. Or you could have bought it second hand without any manual in it. Well I am going to write my version (a lot more helpful than the original) for you.

This is the Wii version that I’m writing for:

Basic Movement

Okay well the first and most important move would be how to control your superstar.

You do this by moving the control stick on the nunchuk, so up makes your wrestler move up etc. With running and walking as far as I can find (from playing it) if you move the control stick a smidge in one direction you will walk, while if you do a lot you will run.

Striking

To strike normally (punch etc) you move the wii remote. You can do 4 different strikes by moving the wii remote up, down, left or right. To do a running strike make sure you are away from your opponent and swing the wii remote. There is only one type so it doesn’t matter what direction you swing it.

Grapples

Now for grapples (throws etc). To do a quick grapple hold down the ‘A’ button on the wii remote and swing the remote. There are 4 possible moves to do so swing it either up, down, left or right. To do a running grapple make sure your away from the opponent and hold down either the ‘A’ or ‘B’ button and swing the wii remote.

Interactive grapples are well …. interactive. So they require you to do that one thing extra. To initiate them hold down the ‘B’ button on the wii remote and swing it, in any of the four directions I mentioned earlier. However this time there will be 4 arrows in the top left hand corner of the screen. Some will be grey and some (or all) green. The green arrows show you which direction you can move the wii remote in again. So if the right and left arrows are green you can then move the remote either left or right. (See picture below)

Counter Attacks

Just like in previous games you can counter moves. To do a strike counter swing the wii remote just as they are going to punch you. To do a grapple counter hold down the ‘A’ or ‘B’ button and then swing the remote just as they’re going to throw you.

Special Moves

To do your superstars favourite move hold down the ‘A’ and ‘B’ button and swing the remote. But make sure that your opponents health meter is yellow or below. To do your finisher hold down ‘A’ and ‘B’ and swing the remote but make sure your opponents health is red. To pin your opponent press the ‘Z’ button.

Taunts

To taunt your opponent hold down the ‘C’ button and then move your hands just like the taunt. So for example with the DX taunt where you cross your hands, just hold down ‘C’ and cross your hands and it will do it on screen. To do an irish whip swing the nunchuk and move the control stick in the direction you want to move your opponent in.

Turnbuckle / Getting out of the Ring

Now to get onto a turnbuckle all you have to do is walk to it. This is the same with getting in and out of the ring; just walk there.

I hope that this instruction manual has helped you and if there is anything I’ve missed all something you don’t understand simply add a comment or go into the about me section and email me.
