Tomb Raider: Anniversary Instruction Manual – PS2
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 by Nick Maunders
I’m going to be re-writing the ‘Tomb Raider: Anniversary’ instruction manual in a more user friendly way. This can be also useful for any one who has bought the game second hand and does not have the instruction manual.
This is the PS2 version and here is my manual:
Introduction
Well this is the most recent tomb raider game available at this moment in time. Until December 2008 that is. Anyway the game as usual is an adventure and you can do things like dive of platforms etc. There are quite a lot of controls for the game so I will try my hardest to get everything in. Be warned though this might be quite a long post, which is why I’ve gave everything headers.
Main Menu
Ok the most important controls are the ones you use at the main menu. Otherwise you can’t play the game. So to move up or down you can use the direction buttons or the analog stock and move it up or down. To select the option press
and to cancel press
.
On the main menu there are 5 options. The first is ‘Start/ Play Game’ this option is pretty self explanatory. The next option is ‘Play Croft Manor’ if you click here then you go straight to the mansion, which is a game in itself. Next is ‘options’ where you can change various settings for the game. The next is ‘Rewards’. Here you can see all the bonus content you have unlocked. If you have just started then nothing will be there! The last is ‘Change Profile’ where you can change your profile!
Game Menu
The controls are the same here than for the main menu, however instead of 5 options there are only 3. The first one is ‘Resume Game’, the second is ‘Load Game’ and the last is ‘Replay level’. All of these don’t need explaining. The only thing that does is how to get onto the menu. To get onto it press
as your playing the game.

HUD (Heads Up Display)
Okay well lets start in the top left hand corner. The light blue bar is the health meter. The one below that is the breath meter (it will only be there when you are in water). Below that shows how many large and small medipacks you have. This can be very useful because you can see how many you have when you need to use one.
Moving on to the top right hand corner. There are two bars here but usually they aren’t visible, that is until you start fighting. The top yellow bar is the enemy health meter which shows the health of the enemy. The red/orange one below that is the enemy rage meter. This shows the rage level of the enemy. When it is full they will probably charge you.
Onto the bottom right hand corner now, and again there is usually nothing there. Well when lara goes near like a switch you will get a ‘triangle’ sign. This is the hint icon. It tells you what to push. Then when you are playing a time trail there will be a little timer in the bottom right hand corner telling you how much time you have remaining to complete the level.
Now the bottom left hand corner. These will only appear if you have a weapon drawn. The first one is the selected weapon(s). So it will show a picture of the weapon you have selected. The one below that is the ammo count. So it will show you how many rounds there are in the clip and how many there are in the weapon.
Basic Movement
Easy, just move the left analog stick to move lara, whether it is sneaking, walking or running. To crouch hold down the
button. You can also press this button while running to roll. To jump press
, the longer you hold it for the further you will jump. To interact with objects press the
button. You can also use the
button to pick up a item/weapon or to balance. If you want to walk hold down the R2 button. This button is also used for grabbing ledges.
Camera
To rotate the camera move the right analog stick, to reset the camera press the L2 button. This button is also used to view the HUD.

Swimming
Use the left analog stick to swim forwards, left, right etc. To dive press the
button, the longer you hold it the deeper you dive. To swim to the surface press the
button, just like diving the longer you hold it the faster you surface. You can also swim faster by pressing the
button repeatedly.
Other
Click the R3 button (push down on the right analog stick) to go into manual aim mode. You can press the
button to throw or retract your grapple. Then press
to pull the grapple. To use a small medipack press the down directional button. To use the large medipack press the up directional button. To cycle through your weapons press the left and right directional buttons.
Combat
This when you have a weapon out!
Press L1 to lock onto a target and then press R1 to fire the weapon. If there are multiple targets to lock on to move the right analog stick to switch between them.
These controls are when you are locked onto the enemy
Move the left analog stick in any direction. If you press
then you will do a roll. If you press
then you will do a somersault. If the enemy is performing a rage attack press
and move the left analog stick to do a adrenaline dodge.

I hope that this instruction manual has helped you and if there is anything I’ve missed all something you don’t understand simply add a comment or go into the about me section and email me.
