Super Paper Mario – Pit of 100 Trials (Flopside)
Sunday, March 9th, 2008 by Nick Maunders
This is an in-depth review on the pit of 100 trials which is from the Super Paper Mario game on the wii. Not the original Paper Mario.
Okay just like the other pit of 100 trials review I’m gonna start by telling you the directions. This is from Nolrem’s house (The wizard in Flopside):
Go left from his house to the lift and follow it down.
Then at the next level go left past one house to the next lift and follow it down.
Then at the next level go right past ‘The Overthere’ house and follow the lift down.
At the bottom keep going to the left and you will find yourself at the pit of 100 trials.
Now just for everyone reading this is the flopside version I am reviewing. If you want the flipside version click here. Also I should add that you have to have completed the flipside version of the pit of 100 trials before attempting this one. Otherwise you will find a big wall in front of the entrance in which you cannot get past.
In my other review you would have remembered me going on and on about you can die. Well on this one the chance is even higher. Now the main structure of the pit is the same as the previous one. Every tenth floor there is a card (and possibly Flimm) and you have the chance to escape and try another day. Of course the enemies are different but technically that is about the only thing that is.

Last time I said to leave about 90 minutes, this time I would recommend over 2 hours. It is a lot harder, a hell of a lot harder. Plus you have to complete it twice, and no I’m not winding you up or trying to annoy you I am being serious. Mind you the prize at the end is well worth it but I will go into that later.
This next paragraph is nearly the same as I wrote in the first review. As the things you need are the same. I’m assuming you already have ‘Barry the Pixl’ in your group. As he is the Pixl I believe you should use the most. I would also recommend for everyone who has completed the game to get the Pixl (Tiptron). But only if you think it will help you (It helped me!), she is an exact replica of Tippi which you don’t have anymore. However unfortunately she costs 999 coins! You can buy it off of Francis in chapter 3-4. Again the most important thing is health. Use exactly the same stuff I told you to use last time. To recap your memory I said: The main things you need to buy is about between 5-7 shroom shakes (which are around 20 coins each) and between 5-7 (the same amount of shroom shakes) fire bursts. Then go to flopside to the cookery place called the Hot Fraun. She will ask for two items to cook into one item. Give her one shroom shake and one fire burst. She will make it into one object ‘Emergency Ration’ this will heal 50 HP in the pit so get as many as these as you can. Other things that come in useful are things such as POW block and ice storm. If you need money go on my review on pit of 100 trials (Flipside) by clicking above (4th Paragraph) where it says, believe it or not, CLICK HERE!
Now joining with the paragraph above I would make sure that you had a lot of emergency ration’s probably about 8 or even 9. This pit is mega difficult so you will definitely need them, trust me! Make sure you have money as well because before entering the pit for the second time you will need to restock on more emergency rations. I would also recommend tunnels in the game with the help of Welderberg. To see my review on this click here!
Okay now all the creatures in the room are completely different from the previous ones. How? Because they are all dark versions of themselves, so instead of a Goomba you get a ‘Dark Goomba’. Unfortunately there are two bad points to this. One if the fact that they are encased in a black silhouette so you have no idea who they are. (That is unless you spend each day observing the outline of each enemy, which is quite boring, not that I would know of course!) The second bad point is the fact that unfortunately they are twice as hard to kill. Which is why I said about it will take longer to complete.
Okay so here are all the enemies. Now as I said they are all Dark so I’m going to save my hands by not typing dark, okay? Here they are:

100- Nothing & Shadoo
Okay as you can see for room 100 first I have put nothing. That’s because when you get there the first time there is … NOTHING! However the second time it is completely different. You will face Shadoo. Well technically first you will face 4 other people 1 by 1. The first being Dark Luigi, then Dark Bowser, then Dark Peach and finally Dark Mario. All of them have no equipped items except for Dark Mario who has Cudge.
Once you have completed that feel good for yourself you’ve just one some huge prizes. (Yay you) You get 4, no sorry 8 new cards. Dark Luigi, Luigi, Dark Bowser, Bowser (1), Dark Peach, Peach (1), Dark Mario and Mario, however if your thinking now “What? I just did that for 8 crap cards” don’t. Because the last one is very special, with the Mario card you can now have infinite 3D! That’s right you can stay in 3D forever (if that’s what you want).
Well in my opinion all 3 pit of 100 trials (considering you have to do the flopside one twice) are the hardest and take up the most time in the entire game. Believe me I know. So hopefully this review will help you go that one step further to getting 100% completion in the game.
Just like last time anything I haven’t covered or which you need to know please email me at nick AT xtragamer DOT co DOT
