Super Mario Galaxy, one of Nintendo’s latest instalments to the Mario Series, and one of the best in the series I believe. This game is brilliant. You as the player have a free choice of where to go, whether it be jumping planet to planet (errr… or rock to rock), or whether you like jumping into black holes and killing yourself this game is great for you. Unless of course you hate Mario to the bones and want to kill him, then of course I wouldn’t recommend this game for you, or any other games with Mario in for that matter.

I think probably thee first game with Mario in that takes you to space (excluding Mario Party 8 ‘Bowser’s Warped Orbit’ board game) for the entire game. It is so fun. So what is this game about? Well as any extreme Mario fans already have guessed this game is about Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach (again!) and Mario having to save her. However the problem being that Peach is somewhere near the centre of the Universe and … well Mario isn’t. He is stuck on this contraption which can take him to the centre of the universe to find Peach. Unfortunately it has no power to get there. So your quest is to go around the universe (near to you) to find big grand stars which power the spaceship your on, and eventually when you have enough you can travel to find Peach and rescue her. (I’m not giving away any endings)

Super Mario Galaxy Wii Case

One thing I love about this game is everything on it is completely different. Not compared to other games but I mean compared to itself. Every planet, or “world”, you go on is completely different to the last one. From a water world full of penguins to a world full of rabbits, the proportional differences are extreme. I think one thing that is great in this game as well is Mario’s ability to change into something else. You change into loads of different things: Fire Mario: as the name suggests you can throw fireballs. Boo Mario: Boo is a ghost so obviously that would mean you can turn into a ghost. Bee Mario: Again you turn into a bee and can stick to walls and fly around. Of course there are a couple more but I leave you to figure them out.

This game features the most power ups in a Mario game to date! There are literally hundreds, some didn’t even make it into the game. You have special mushrooms, which is what I was talking about earlier (with the fire Mario etc), and obviously one up mushrooms which err. .. give Mario an extra life. Did you know that this game can actually be played with 2 players (well obviously you did if you looked at the back of the case and saw the big words CO-OPERATIVE PLAY), however don’t let this fool you, you don’t actually get two Mario’s, where player 1 controls one and player 2 controls the other Nooooo! Player 1 controls Mario (thee only Mario) while Player 2 can do things such as fire star bits at enemies, make Mario jump higher etc. So technically the game can be made a lot easier (or a lot harder depending on how player 2 if feeling) with a second player.

Okay, when you have to vs. cosmic Mario (which is a version of you) to get a head start do the following before the race begins: Hold down forward (nunchuk) then as the screen says 2 hold down Z (nunchuk) and then when the race starts hit ‘A’ (wii Remote) you should get a speed boost.

I think this game is great and would give it a rating of 9.6/10
