Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Release Date:
This game is obviously going to be good considering two of the worlds best companies, Nintendo and Sega have teamed up together to make a video game for the wii. This game features both companies mascots and characters included in their games (Mario for Nintendo, Sonic for Sega).
So character wise you have 8 from Mario games including Luigi and Yoshi, and 8 from Sonic games including Tails and Shadow. The characters are split into 4 different categories: All-Around types (Mario), Speed Types (Sonic), Power Types (Bowser) and Skill Types (Tails).
As you can imagine by the title of the game it features the characters playing against each other in a series of games form proper Olympic games such as 100 metres, pole vault to games not played at the Olympic such as sky diving. At the start of the game some “events” are locked and to unlock them you have to play a circuit match. What that is, is where you compete as your selected character in a series of events. If you win you unlock something and you unlock the next circuit and so on with eventually you winning the final circuit and unlocking every event the game holds.

Also on the main menu there is the option for a single match to choose a single event and play it. In the game are things called emblems which you can win by doing things. Some are extremely difficult such as winning a table tennis event 11-0. While others are easy such as “Playing the game 50 times”. There are also trophies to be one: most of which you get after completing a circuit.
This game also has mission modes where you select a character and have to complete 6 missions such as winning a race etc to get a star and earn prizes. As will as this there is a gallery on the main menu in which you must play mini games to unlock various Olympic-related trivia and music.
Any world records you achieve in the game you can register online using the wi-fi connection. You can also view all your records on the record tab in the main menu. There are over 20 events in this game some of which are: 100 metres, Long Jump, High Jump, Hammer Throw and Javelin Throw all of which are great fun to play. For this game you need to have a wii remote and nunchuk for certain events as for events such as gymnastics you only need the wii remote.
Get all of the 6 stars for a character in mission mode to unlock his/her emblem. So for example if you complete all of Mario’s events you get the Mario emblem.
I would give this game a rating of 9.2/10
